Poisonous spider holds key to impotence cure
Brazilian and American scientists are currently studying whether the deadly bite of the Phoneutria nigriventer or Brazilian wandering spider can be used to improve the sex lives of men suffering from this embarrassing malady.
Their interest in the spider was sparked when victims said their sex lives had improved after they were bitten by this creepy crawler. In addition to pain and high blood pressure, investigation showed that the bite produces priapism or long and painful erections.
“The erection is a side effect that everybody who gets stung by this spider will experience along with the pain and discomfort. We're hoping eventually this will end up in the development drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction," said study team member Romulo Leite of the Medical College of Georgia.
Leite, Kenia Pedrosa Nunes, and their colleagues found that the venom contains a toxin called Tx2-6 that causes erections. When they injected the venom in rats, this produced enough penis pressure to begin an erection. Further tests are being done to determine whether Tx2-6 can be used in humans.
“Scientists believe that combining a version of the spider's venom with an existing drug for erectile dysfunction - such as Viagra, Cialis or Levitra - could produce better results,” reported Vladimir Hernandez in BBC News.
As its name implies, the Brazilian wandering spider was first discovered in Brazil and is found in highly populated areas there. It is listed Guinness Book of World Records as the most venomous animal. Adult spiders can have a leg span of up to four or five inches and they eat crickets, mice, and small lizards.
“The wandering spider is so-called because it wanders the jungle floor, rather than residing in a lair or maintaining a web. This attribute is another reason it is considered so dangerous. In densely populated areas, Phoneutria species usually search for cover and dark places to hide during daytime, leading it to hide within houses, clothes, cars, boots, boxes and log piles; thus generating accidents when people disturb it. Its other name is the "banana spider" because it is occasionally found as a 'stowaway' within shipments of bananas. As a result, any large spider appearing in a bunch of bananas should be treated with due care,” warned the editors of Wikipedia.
While researchers are still trying to figure out how the spider can be used to treat male impotence, don’t make the mistake of getting bitten by one or you could end up dead. Discuss your problem with a good doctor and learn about various treatments impotence. One popular product that will give you an “instant lift” without compromising your health is Erectasil.
